Well detailed, authentic, yet VERY sturdy May 31, 2008 Disgruntled Post-Doc (San Diego) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I happened to spot one of these models for sale at the gift shop in the Air and Space museum in San Diego and was struck by the colour, which really did look like the Red Baron Red I grew up reading about. Rightly or wrongly, I remember it have a white cowling like this model, rather than the red cowling often seen, although both might be correct. I didn't buy it at the time, but it stayed in my mind, and I purchased it later through Amazon.
The truly marvelous and remarkable thing about this model is its strength. I had intended to give it to my son when he was older, but it seemed so strudy I gave it to him immediately. He has had it for 5 months, carrying it everywhere, dropping it, playing with it. He just turned two a few days ago, so you can imagine the abuse it has suffered. But, with the exception of the tail, which broke off once, and is now superglued on, it looks brand new and unscathed.
When one considers the price, this is a remarkable model. Authentic AND tough.
Excellent Model June 19, 2008 Vivian S. Ashley (Murrayville, GA United States) The plane is very easy to assemble, nice bright color, durable, and over all a nice model. There's not a lot of small pieces. I bought this model for my 10 year old son for his birthday. I also bought the Spad S. VII. They make a nice combination. I'm well pleased with my purchase, and will buy more models at Christmas time.
Nice beginning to a plane collection December 26, 2008 Mon Jon (IN, United States) This is a nice and simple snap-together model plane. All you need is a screwdriver, everything else just pops in place. If you don't have the time or want to mess with building a plane, this is a nice alternative. It is a plastic model, it has a few decals already on the plane, no big frills but it is enough for my 8 year old nephew. He likes the size, there is enough detail for him and he can handle it and not break any small pieces. This model has a little stand that comes with it--it could be nicer but he doesn't complain. A nice way to begin a plane collection. To really maximize the educational aspect, one can print info on each plane. A little history lesson never hurt anyone.
Great Toy! March 10, 2009 BFG I collect the E-Z Build line, and of the 20 or so available in the line, this model is probably the most challenging to put together. I really enjoy assembling this model, the accuracy is great for a toy & I love how the E-Z Builds don't require glue. The overall value is great considering the inexpensive price.
hard to make but awesome when done September 4, 2010 I got this gift for hanukkah and it was really great. it was hard to assemble but if you look close at the very small directions you can figure it out. Its hard to tell the difference between the screws but screws A are chipped at the end. this is a durable toy im looking forward to buying other models and i think you should buy it too.
